Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with UAE’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan to discuss bilateral relations, regional developments, and global issues. Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar were also present during the meeting.
PM Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further solidify the fraternal ties with the UAE, which are based on mutual respect and shared cultural and economic interests. He conveyed good wishes for Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and appreciated the UAE’s continued support in various sectors.
He emphasized the need to enhance cooperation in trade, investment, energy, and people-to-people exchanges, expressing satisfaction over the pace of bilateral collaboration and reaffirming Pakistan’s desire to transform strong political relations into a mutually beneficial economic partnership.
Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan lauded the contributions of the Pakistani community in the UAE’s development and reiterated his country’s commitment to deepening relations with Pakistan. He said the UAE is keen on exploring new opportunities for bilateral cooperation.
MoUs signed across multiple sectors
Several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were signed during the visit of Sheikh bdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, including:
- Cultural collaboration: Between Pakistan’s National Heritage & Culture Division and the UAE Ministry of Culture
- Consular affairs cooperation: Establishing a joint committee between the foreign ministries of both countries
- Business cooperation: Agreement to form a Pakistan-UAE Joint Business Council, signed between the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and UAE’s Chambers of Commerce and Industry
Deputy Prime Ministers Ishaq Dar and Sheikh Abdullah attended the signing ceremony and exchanged signed documents.
Warm reception at the Foreign Office
Earlier, Sheikh Abdullah arrived at the Foreign Office where he was warmly welcomed by Deputy PM Ishaq Dar. The two greeted each other and Dar introduced the visiting dignitary to the Pakistani delegation.
A formal reception was held in Sheikh Abdullah’s honor at the Foreign Office. Speaking on the occasion, Ishaq Dar expressed hope that the visit would prove fruitful and emphasized the strong brotherly relations between the two nations, highlighting ongoing collaborative projects.
Sheikh Abdullah thanked Pakistan for the warm welcome and stated that discussions would cover trade, investment, and more, acknowledging the significant role of Pakistani nationals in the UAE’s development.
