The main fight in this year’s parliamentary elections is between BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami. However, in the constituencies where Awami League candidates have won most of the time in the contested elections in the past, the voting equation is being developed anew. There are about 30 such constituencies across the country. Now the activities of Awami League are banned, the party is not in the election. As a result, the BNP-Jamaat-led 11-party electoral alliance and the support of Awami League-backed voters have become important to independent candidates. As a result, rival candidates are trying to get the votes of Awami League supporters of these constituencies.
According to the information sent by the representatives , the candidates are conducting various activities to attract Awami League votes in Madaripur, Shariatpur, Faridpur, Gopalganj, Bagerhat, Thakurgaon, Jamalpur and Mymensingh. Sometimes contact with former Awami League leaders, sometimes visiting graves, and sometimes assurance of safety and protection from lawsuits – these strategies are now at the center of discussion in the election field.
After the fall of the Awami League government on August 5, 2024, many leaders and workers of the party are in hiding, many are in prison. In many areas, people who are hiding in hiding can return to the area safely, such assurances are also heard.
