Heathrow Airport, the UK’s busiest, saw a 7.5% drop in passenger numbers in March.
Heathrow’s four terminals were used by 6.2 million passengers last month, compared to 6.7 million in March last year.
The decline in passenger numbers is being attributed to the fact that Ramadan falls in April, as well as the Easter holidays, and the airport was closed for a full day due to a power outage.
However, cargo handled by the airport increased by 0.3% last month and passenger aircraft cargo increased by 4%.
In this regard, Heathrow Airport Chief Executive Thomas Woldby said that the number of passengers decreased slightly due to the change in holiday times this year.
