It has been revealed that patients were being given expired stents at the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) in Lahore.
According to a report issued by the hospital’s Auditor General, 22 patients were given expired stents at the PIC, and a deadly game was played with the patients from July 2021 to December 2022.
According to the report, 9 patients were given stents whose expiration date was only 3%, and irregularities worth Rs 263 million were revealed in the purchase of expired stents and medicines.
According to the report, this financial irregularity came to light after an inspection of the stock and patient files in the Auditor General’s report. The department has not responded to the Auditor General’s request for a response.
