Baku: Dr. Ahmed Shaeroglu, head of Azerbaijan’s leading think tank, the Institute for Democracy and Human Rights, has taken a bold stand in favor of Pakistan, in which he has given a befitting reply to Indian threats.
In his statement on the social networking website X (Twitter), he said that those who threaten Azerbaijan with sanctions and travel boycott should read history carefully. The Azerbaijani nation has not learned to bow to any pressure. We stand firmly on a legitimate stand with our brother Pakistan. No political threat can change our stand.
He said that even if Indian tourism companies talk about boycott and economic pressure, Baku has already given a very strong and clear response. We will not give up our just stand. Azerbaijan has never betrayed any brother for personal gain. Our friendship is not a business, it is a matter of values. Every boycott makes us stronger. We are a nation that protects not only its economy but also its political freedom.
They said that tourists may come less, some rice exports may stop, but respect and brotherhood will always remain, if we did not support Pakistan, we would not be able to face our eyes tomorrow, long live Azerbaijan.
