Pakistan will issue a formal diplomatic notice to India’s suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty.

Pakistan has decided to issue a formal diplomatic notice in a strong reaction to India’s suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty.

This decision has been taken after legal and constitutional consultations, in which the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Water Resources and Ministry of Law have jointly completed the initial homework.

According to sources, the Indus Commission has decided to seek concrete reasons from India for this decision after detailed deliberation on the suspension of the treaty. Highlighting the importance of the treaty, Pakistan has said that an effective voice will be raised at international forums against India’s water aggression.

Pakistan’s position is that the Indus Waters Treaty is an international legal document on which India’s unilateral suspension is an illegal and immoral act. Pakistan has never violated this treaty and has always fully adhered to international laws.

Government sources say that all steps will be taken only after the approval of the Prime Minister and the Cabinet so that Pakistan’s position can be presented effectively and strongly at the global level.

The aim of this initiative is not only to expose India’s attempts to seize water but also to make the international community aware of the seriousness of the issue.
