faced problems and made a place for myself in a male-dominated environment

Ayesha Malik, Justiceof the Supreme Court of Pakistan has said that even after being promoted to the Supreme Court, I faced problems and made a place for myself in a male-dominated environment.

Speaking on the opening day of the eighth edition of the Leaders in Islamabad Business Summit, Justice Ayesha Malik said that in a society like Pakistan, mediation and alternative dispute resolution mechanisms are necessary, disputes should be decided in a timely manner, so that there is no impression that going to court is a waste of time and money.

She said that the court should be the last resort for resolving disputes, but due to the country’s circumstances, the court has become the first resort. The burden and dependence on the courts is not really necessary.

Justice Ayesha Malik said that even after being promoted to the Supreme Court, I faced problems. I made a place for myself in a male-dominated environment. If women are not included in legislation and policy-making, the law will not be fully implemented. I have always been interested in law and enjoy asking difficult questions.

On this occasion, Federal Minister for Climate Change and Environment Coordination Senator Dr. Mosaddiq Malik said that in my opinion, greenery everywhere is the environment. We talk about the environment but we do not see that those living in remote and mountainous areas do not have any problems with it, although they are subject to rains, floods and food shortages.

He said that their strength has to be understood and how they are coping with environmental change has to be seen. We have to restore and adopt the natural environment, take back our colors, our joys, our flowers and our music. He said that environmental problems can be overcome with the help of technology. If financial resources are not available, then we will face difficulties in taking steps regarding the environment.

Addressing the summit, Federal Minister for IT and Telecom Sheza Fatima Khawaja said that significant changes have taken place in agriculture, health, education, trade and production due to technology. Daily conversations have also now shifted to technology. We are moving out of the digital world and entering the world of artificial intelligence (AI).

He said that today’s world has advanced in artificial intelligence and quantum computing. If we do not keep up with the world, we will be left alone.

Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi, while addressing the ceremony, said that the culture of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is multifaceted, which is visible in language, culture and architecture. In recent days, violent incidents, cross-border terrorism and growing extremism are major threats. The government is busy establishing peace in collaboration with law enforcement agencies. He said that extremism is being converted into peace through education, job opportunities and infrastructure, agriculture is being modernized through smart irrigation and quality seeds, and Swat, Chitral and Kumrat have become world-class tourist centers in tourism.

On this occasion, former Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (2016-2019) Retired Zubair Mahmood Hayat said that we are entering a world where technology is bringing about an industrial revolution and a global world order. Even the smallest country can create a balance of power in the world, however, technology leaders will be required for this.

He said that Pakistan has suffered losses on the IT track, but Pakistan can still move forward in artificial intelligence, for which data centers will have to be established and artificial intelligence labs will have to be built. Data has become the biggest strategic asset in the world. The world has reached a point where organic data is disappearing and synthetic data is taking its place.

Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OICCI) President Yousaf Hussain said that we need to perform to the best of our ability so that we can become an emerging economy.

He said that for economic development, cooperation between the government and industry must be increased, for this purpose there are forums like OICCI, Pakistan Business Council and Pakistan Banks Association.

He said that at present the economy has come out of the problems to a considerable extent, for a stable economy a national plan is needed in which industrial policy, trade policy, human resource development, use of technology and financial reforms should be carried out.
