Light earthquake tremors were felt in Peshawar, parts of Landikotal and its surrounding areas in Khyber district, and Batkhela city and nearby localities of Malakand on Tuesday.
Residents rushed out of their homes and shops in fear as the tremors spread panic across the affected areas.
According to the National Seismic Monitoring Centre, Islamabad, the earthquake occurred with a magnitude of 5.0 on the Richter scale. Its epicentre was recorded in southeastern Afghanistan at a depth of 20 kilometres.
